SUMMARY:AU Songkran Festival 2025
DESCRIPTION:Songkran Day is a national holiday and a special occasion for family reunions. Young Thais\, no matter where they are\, try their best to return home and celebrate with their families. In Bangkok\, where many residents come from other provinces\, the city looks almost empty on Songkran Day. \nFor the Thais who are Buddhists\, the day begins with merit making in remembrance of departed souls\, Birds and fish are set free. Later in the day\, they visit their elders for anointment rite\, The elders in return wish the youngsters good health\, longevity and prosperity. In many provinces the main Buddha image is towed in procession around the area. \nObjectives:\n\nTo comply with the University’s policy to preserve and disseminate Thai arts and culture\nTo disseminate Thai culture to both Thai and foreign students\n\nNote: Please bring offerings for monks by yourself. Offerings for sale will not be provided. Sorry for any inconvenience.\n\n\n\n\nSplash into Songkran! Let’s Make a Splash at AU on April 9\nSongkran is almost here — and we’re ready to celebrate Thai New Year the AU way!\n\nThink good vibes\, great food\, cultural traditions\, and lots of smiles. Whether you’re here for the blessings or just love the festive energy\, this is your chance to celebrate together with the AU community! \nWe’re bringing the Songkran spirit to Suvarnabhumi Campus on Tuesday\, April 9\, 2025\, and you’re totally invited.\n\nHere’s what’s going down:\n8:00 a.m. – Alms Giving\n\nStart your day with good vibes by giving alms to monks at the Sri Rattanagosin Gate (in front of CL Building) \n10:30 a.m. – Water Pouring Ceremony\n\nJoin the beautiful “Rod Nam Dam Hua” tradition at the Thai Pavilion. We’ll be paying respect to our AU administrators and enjoying the calm\, cultural side of Songkran.\n(And yes\, there’s lunch at 11:30. Don’t miss it!) \nApril 1–10 – Blessings at the Buddha Image\n\nDrop by AU Plaza (near Krungsri Bank) to sprinkle scented water and make a wish for a fresh start \nDress code? Thai fabric\, of course!\n\nLet’s keep the culture alive in style. \n\n\n\nHeads-up: AU offices and classrooms will be closed April 13–16 for the Songkran holiday.
