History

School of Law, Assumption University, was established in June 1992 as the eighth school of the University. The objective of establishment is to produce graduates in legal profession specializing in business law. The School emphasizes on its graduates to be fulfilled with knowledge, competency in business law, general law, and effective English skills. Graduates who are well-rounded and globally qualified to work in legal profession with morality and ethics in order to be capable of performing their works in correspondence to the needs of society and political and economic conditions.

In 2002, the School has launched its first Master of Laws program, majoring in business law for LL.B. graduates who want to improve their business law knowledge and be specialized in the field. This includes laws on industry, banking and finance, import and export, investment, intellectual property, international trade and so on.

Later on, the School further launched its Master of Laws program in Public Law, Master of Laws program in Business Law (International Program) in English, and Master of Laws program in Taxation Law in response to the needs at a time of the Thai society.

To follow the ASEAN roadmap and in repreparation of the integration of ASEAN community, the School has launched its Master of Arts program in International Law and Diplomacy in 2011 and provided multiple courses related to ASEAN laws as free-elective subjects to both undergraduate and graduate levels of study since 2013.

From 2014, the School has substantially and significantly adjusted their Master of Laws programs to focus more on its organization’s core competency. With its prompt response to the University's policy on 3Es—Entrepreneur, English, and Ethics, the School now aims to produce new generations of graduates who can perfectly integrate law and business, know their balance mean, and be able to bridge the gap in their legal practice. The upcoming amended LL.B. and LL.M. programs to be in force in 2022 will thus transform this to reality with certificate of specialization awarded to graduates who complete their major courses in English language in i) Information Technology and Intellectual Property, ii) Logistics, or iii) Real Estates, forming as our three major tracks. Based on our long history of Assumption Commercial College, known in the name of “ABAC”, and cooperation of faculty members from Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, Vincent Mary School of Science and Technology, Vincent Mary School of Engineering, and Thomas Aquinas School of Law, stakeholders can expect to get a qualified lawyer who can promptly work in practice.
